Signing from outside the United States
Yes, you can, and at the same notarial act fee. But there is one condition the notary must verify with you during the appointment.
The condition
The New York rule allows the signer to be outside the country, but requires the notary to obtain your verbal confirmation, on the recording, that the document or matter has a substantial connection to the United States.
It is not a form you fill in: the notary asks you out loud and it stays on the recording.
Worth knowing beforehand
- The notarial act fee is the same. We do not charge more for being outside the country.
- The appointment is always shown with its time zone, in yours and the notary's.
- A document notarized in New York may also need an apostille to be used in another country.
- You need a valid government ID and a stable connection throughout the act.
